Supporting Parkinson's disease
Our Parkinson's lead practitioner, Melody, is a highly experienced RNTP who can support you or your loved one with symptoms or a diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease. She helps clients to optimise nutrient intake around medication use, supports neurological function and other symptoms to improve quality of life, and helps clients understand and navigate the complex relationship between diet, digestion, and brain chemistry. This approach is designed to support both motor and non-motor symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease, including digestive symptoms, fatigue, sleep disturbances and changes in energy levels.
our approach
Parkinson's Disease is a highly complex condition with many driving factors to consider. Melody uses an evidence-based, integrative functional approach to nutrition and lifestyle medicine, that complements conventional medical care, integrating the latest research in neuroinflammation, mitochondrial function, oxidative stress and microbiome diversity to create tailored strategies that support motor and non-motor symptoms.
To support clients with a Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis, a personalised consultation plan is put together based on the individual’s presentation, symptoms and medical history. Safety is key, so all nutrients and herbs are crosschecked against any medications for contraindications.
Areas that may be addressed include:
-
Optimisation of the gut microbiome
-
Optimisation of dietary intake with consideration to protein distribution and medication
-
Addressing other potential root causes, triggers and drivers of symptoms and disease progression
-
Optimisation of liver detoxification pathways with consideration to genetic predisposition
-
Optimisation of metabolic and hormonal health
-
Optimisation of hydration and electrolyte status
-
Reduction of systemic inflammation and oxidative stress
-
Mitochondrial and cellular support
-
Improvement in sleep quality
-
Stress management and nervous system regulation
-
Reduction in exposure to environmental factors
working with melody
Given the complexity of a Parkinson's diagnosis, all clients are required to sign up for our 'onboarding package', which consists of an initial 1.5-hour consultation (£250) plus two follow-up consultations, which are 1 hour in duration (£165 per consultation). The onboarding package is £580. This allows Melody to fully delve into your life and health history, diet, lifestyle, and current environmental exposures, and to begin setting out a framework of support for you.
Following this, we typically suggest regular consultations for a minimum of 6 months, at a frequency that best suits your need for support and your finances. Typically, clients schedule these appointments at four-weekly intervals. Clients who purchase 6 or more follow-up consultations receive these at the discounted rate of £150 per consultation.
