supporting brain & spine injury

Becki, our lead brain and spine injury RNTP, has been supporting neurological health concerns, including brain and spine injury and stroke, for more than 20 years. In addition to being a registered nutritionist, she is a neuro physiotherapist.

Recovery following a brain injury, whether traumatic, acquired or stroke-related, is rarely a linear process. Progress depends on multiple physiological systems working together, rather than on any single intervention or pathway. This process can be understood as a five-lane motorway, where each lane represents a key physiological system that must be functioning well to support the journey towards recovery.

These systems (or lanes): elimination, assimilation, immunity, oxidation and regeneration, form the five pillars of health. Together, they create the internal conditions that allow neuroplasticity, cognitive recovery and whole-body healing to occur.

When one or more of these pillars is compromised, recovery may slow, plateau or remain incomplete. When all five systems are functioning in balance, the body is better equipped to support repair, adaptation and long-term neurological health.

Becki can guide and support you following an event, providing you with the nutrition, lifestyle and therapeutic supplementation that your body needs.

Why the Internal Environment Matters

Much of brain injury care focuses on visible outcomes such as physical function or cognitive performance. While these are important, recovery is also shaped by internal factors. Inflammation, impaired nutrient absorption, mitochondrial dysfunction and metabolic imbalance can all limit the brain’s capacity to heal, regardless of the interventions being used.

The five pillars of health provide the biological foundation for recovery by stabilising the internal environment. When this foundation is supported, the body is better able to respond to care, adapt to change and sustain progress over time.

The Role of Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional therapy focuses on preparing the body for healing by supporting the systems that underpin recovery:

- Elimination supports the clearance of metabolic waste and neurotoxic burden.
- Assimilation ensures nutrients are absorbed and delivered where they are needed.
- Immunity helps regulate inflammation and immune signalling.
- Oxidation supports cellular energy production and repair.

- Regeneration supports ongoing neural adaptation and tissue renewal.

These processes do not act in isolation. When supported together, they help shift recovery from a fragile or stalled state into one that is more resilient, adaptive and sustainable. Recovery after brain injury is not only about improving symptoms or function. It is about restoring the internal environment that allows the brain to heal and adapt. Strengthening this foundation supports more consistent, meaningful and lasting progress. Healing from brain injury is a complex biological process, one that benefits from a whole-system approach.

An initial 1.5 hour consultation is £250.

As brain injury is complex, we recommend a minimum 3 to 6 month therapeutic

working relationship to optimise your nutritional status.

Follow-up consultations are £165. However, these can be purchased in packages of

6 or more consultations for the reduced price of £150 per session.
