Rebalancing your metabolism

Metabolic health imbalance can present in a number of ways, including weight fluctuations, fatigue, muscle and joint pain, skin changes and digestive issues. Deborah has helped multiple people to regain balance and achieve their health goals, regardless of their starting point.

Metabolic imbalance is determined by a number of factors, including:

  • Genetics

  • Familial health history

  • Our own health history

  • Hormonal balance

  • Our microbiome and gut health

  • Exposure to environmental toxins

  • Use of medications

  • The effectiveness of our detoxification pathways

  • Previous or current stress and/or trauma

  • Sleep patterns

In addition to this, the food and drink we consume greatly contributes contribute to our metabolic health outcomes. With such a complex web of potential root causes of a health condition, it's important that a personalised, multi-factorial approach is considered.

We have to take into consideration all of the biochemical pathways, how they intertwine, and how to best support these pathways so that they function optimally. Lifestyle support, including dietary intake, exercise, and management of stress and sleep are all key to improvement in symptoms.

Often diet and lifestyle changes alone aren't enough to correct imbalances, so therapeutic nutraceuticals can be utilised to optimise nutrient status and balance biochemical pathways.

What to expect

Conventional medicine offers a wide range of support those with a diagnosis. The aim of functional nutrition is to work synergistically with your primary healthcare provider while addressing the root cause of your health condition.

Deborah is a registered dietitian, functional nutritionist and health coach, who has worked closely with thousands of people to support their health journey. She is also highly experienced in working with people who take GLP medication.

Support is available for the following health concerns and medical conditions:

  • Weight management including support alongside GLP1 medication

  • Prediabetes and Diabetes type II

  • PCOS

To support clients with a metabolic health diagnosis, a consultation plan will be put together based on the client's presentation. Areas that we will focus on during our time working together may include:

  • Optimisation of dietary intake

  • Optimisation of the gut microbiome

  • Optimisation of liver detoxification pathways

  • Optimisation of hydration and electrolyte status

  • Reduction of systemic inflammation

  • Mitochondrial support

  • Improvement in sleep quality

  • Stress management

  • Reduction in exposure to environmental factors

  • Addressing other potential root causes, triggers and drivers of symptoms and diagnoses.

On occasion, further support from external practitioners may be recommended, which may include counselling, physiotherapy, and personal training for exercise support. Support will be provided in finding the most appropriate practitioners.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The first step is for you to book your free 15-minute chat so that we can get a better understanding of your situation. From here, if we feel that we can help you, we will send you a questionnaire to complete, and schedule an appointment with you. If the questionnaire is too daunting for you to complete by yourself, we can complete this together in your first appointment.

At your initial appointment, we will provide you with advice and support to help you make the first steps on your health journey. This might include recommendations for further testing (through your GP or private functional tests).

If you require functional tests, we will talk you through the most appropriate and affordable options for your condition and support you through the process.

If you require any supplements or nutraceuticals, we will provide detailed guidance. We will also work with you to develop a schedule of appointments that suits your needs and finances.

If you are feeling less than optimal, and have concerns about your health or the health of someone you care about, please reach out to Rae, the Office Manager, at admin@younutritionclinic.com with a summary of your health issues, and she will arrange a free 15-minute chat with either Kirstie, Kerry or Deborah.
