Hi there, I'm Kirstie.

I'm an AfN registered Nutritionist with a PhD in nutrition and a BSc in Public Health Nutrition, both from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. Having completed a further 3 years of study at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION), I am also a BANT and CNHC registered Nutritional Therapist. I am currently undertaking a Masters degree with the University of Sheffield in Neuroscience and Neurodegeneration

My specialism is paediatric nutrition, from pre-pregnancy to young adulthood, and within this age group, I tend to focus on gastrointestinal health and gut related health conditions, neurological health including mental wellness and mental health disorders, and immune health including autoimmunity, viral conditions, and allergy and intolerance.

I also work with adults who have been diagnosed with or are at risk of developing neurodegenerative health conditions such as Parkinsons Disease, Motor Neurone Disease (MND/ALS), Huntington's Disease and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). For more information, visit www.nutritionandthebrain.com

In addition to my clinical work, I am the Module Coordinator for the Functional Nutrition, Gastrointestinal Health and Detoxification, and Immune Health modules on the UK's first Graduate Diploma in Integrative and Functional Nutrition, delivered by the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition (www.ion.ac.uk), in collaboration with Portsmouth University. I also teach clinical practice and paediatric nutrition on the BSc programme and at other academic institutes in the UK and mentor other practitioners. I have a PGCE in Higher Education from the University of London. I am a member of the Editorial Board for the Nutritional Medicine Institute and Journal (www.nmi.health).

I also have over 20 years of experience in developing and delivering a wide range of nutrition and lifestyle interventions, plus educational, research-focused, and advisory roles for numerous charities, NGO and Government entities both in the UK and internationally. I am the lead for Public Health Nutrition at Real World Health (www.realworldhealth.net).  I have also worked as a Nutritionist and Health Coach for Second Nature, a digital health and behaviour change programme, since 2018 (www.secondnature.io).
